President Trump Participates in a Business Roundtable

Trump remarks that China is working very hard. He states that they lost almost 1,000 points yesterday on the market.

Donald Trump says that they just did a lot of business with India, where they are buying $3 billion worth of helicopters. Next, Dan Brouillette says that they have had great conversations in India with his counterpart, Minister Pradhan. He states that they are going to have some new energy deals. A participant remarks that they have their tax reforms and regulation cuts are incredible. He adds that the regulation cuts are more important.

Anand Mahindra says that they have invested $1 billion in southeast Michigan. He adds that they are in the shortlist of the pick for the United States Postal Service new delivery van. He mentions that when that comes through, they will very happily put in another billion and employ about 2,000 people. A participant asks Trump that how he sees for companies like theirs coming in from India and setting up manufacturing plants in the States. Trump says that they have not been talking about it. B. K. Goenka states that they have invested around $400 million and created around 1,500 jobs. He thanks him for the Keystone pipeline.

Mohan Reddy from Cyient remarks that they are now making a large investment in the U.S., hiring thousands of people. He asks Trump to look into the regulation issues, especially administrative and legislative. Trump answers that they are going to cut a lot more regulations. Mukesh Ambani from Reliance Industries says that they are investors in the United States in the energy sector. He remarks that they are the only network in the world that does not have a single Chinese component. C. G. Sethuram from Thirumalia Chemicals says that they are putting up a plant in West Virginia, which is $70 million to start with.

Donald Trump states that they just signed the deal with China and they are going to be spending $250 billion a year now on their country. Sali Parekh from Infosys says that they made tremendous investments in the U.S. in the past two years about $525 million. Trump says that when your money is offshore, you can bring it in. He adds that Apple is bringing in $350 billion and they are building plants. Ritesh Agarwal from Oyo Hotels says that in the last six years, they have grown to become a leading hotel chain worldwide. He adds that they invested over $300 million in the U.S.

Lakshmi Mittal says to Trump that he saved the steel industry in the United States. He says that they support domestic manufacturing to dump steel. He then congratulates him for creating an ease of business ecosystem. Lastly, he informs that he is going to say hello to all the people now that work at the embassy and then, they are going to have a little news conference.
